Voter’s Choice Act (VCA)

Governor Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 450 into law in 2012, which allowed all counties to replace polling places with vote centers and to send vote-by-mail ballots to each registered voter. On May 25, 2021, the Marin County Board of Supervisors approved resolution 2021-33 confirming implementation of the California Voter’s Choice Act (VCA) in Marin County.

The Marin County Elections Department used a hybrid of the previous precinct system and the VCA system for the 2020 presidential election. They fully implemented the VCA election system for the June 7, 2022 primary and the November 8, 2022 general. It will be used on all future elections.
