Observers

This page is a resource for people that want to become MEIC observers of elections in Marin County.

MEIC training consists of meetings, training materials and online classes. Trained observers may schedule observation shifts for the March 5, 2024 primary election. Early voting starts February 5, 2024 and ballot processing continues through April 5, 2024. Plenty of shifts will be available!

We need observers from February 5 through March 5, 2024 at Ballot Drop Boxes, Vote Centers and Ballot Processing at the Civic Center. After Election Day, we need observers for Ballot Processing at the Civic Center only.

After training observers can schedule a shift to observe Ballot Drop Boxes, Vote Centers or Ballot Processing at the Civic Center.

Observers may submit their reports online using the appropriate form:

Observers at the Civic Center should collect forms AVMR130 and EWMR057 in the morning and again in the evening. Collect the forms immediately after the Civic Center opens and again shortly before it closes. Observers should hand-deliver the forms to any officer of the MEIC, or photograph them and email them to meic@ourmarin.org.

MISSION

The MEIC is a non-partisan committee and is not affiliated with any political party. It works to ensure that every legal certifiable vote is accurately counted and tabulated.

The MEIC advocates a return to precinct level single day in-person voting with photo ID to vote on paper ballots counted at the precinct.
